Current Volunteer Opportunities

Engagement committee: Call for volunteers

The Engagement Committee is who looks after volunteers, members and exhibitions.

We are looking for 3 volunteers to help support the volunteer and membership coordinator.

Each volunteer will support a different aspect of the coordinators’ role:

  • Contacting members whose membership has lapsed
  • Contacting volunteers to cover events
  • Contacting volunteers to verify and ensure accurate information

Time needed is roughly 2 hours per week for each volunteer.

Education committee: Call for volunteers

The Education Committee is an essential part of Quest Art as we are first and foremost, an art school.

We are looking for:

  • 4 volunteers to help coordinate adult classes,
  • 2 volunteers to help coordinate youth classes and
  • 2 volunteers to help with school outreach (assisting with lessons at local schools).

Volunteer duties will involve calling instructors to schedule classes, following up with previous instructors to verify information and interest in teaching again, and liaising with Quest Art staff.

Time needed is roughly 1-2 hours per week for each volunteer, depending on the number of volunteers.

Members Club: Call for Group Leader Volunteers

Member studio hours will be starting at Quest Art once more and we are looking for volunteers to lead weekly activities for our members.

The studio hours are from 10am to 1pm on Friday mornings and activities can take place on-site or en plein air. Members will bring their own materials to the sessions.

Possible activities could be: outdoor sketching, watercolour activities, portraiture, still life studies, sculpture, etc.

We need volunteers to plan the activity, lead the group, and communicate with Quest Art staff to ensure members are aware in time of what they need to bring.

Please contact Sarah Scanlon at if you are able to take on this role at least occasionally.

Volunteering with Quest Art means shining at what you do best - behind the scenes or up front!

We’re always looking for new volunteers to join our organization. Whether you’re a student wanting to gain experience, or just interesting in engaging with Midland’s art community – we’re interested in meeting you.

Possible Volunteer Roles:

Exhibition and Event Set-up.
There’s a lot to learn about hanging an exhibition and the curatorial practices in a professional gallery, which you could learn by assisting our director and the team as they carefully change exhibitions. These happen all year round so get in touch if you’d like to have valuable insight into what goes on behind-the-scenes! You can also help set-up displays for one of our varied fundraisers, which also involves teamwork and an attention to detail. You might also be asked to lift or carry items, depending on the event.

Reception and Greeting.
An integral part of events at Quest is the welcoming face our visitors see when they first arrive. If you feel you are a friendly, welcoming person then you could assist us by greeting visitors, taking down their information or assisting with ticketing. This role requires someone well-presented and able to multi-task.

Office and Administrative Support.
There’s a lot that goes on behind-the-scenes to organize exhibitions and fundraisers! We are always seeking volunteers to help in the offices at Quest. If you are adept at multi-tasking, are comfortable making phone calls and have an eye for detail then this may be the perfect role!

Workshop and Educational Assistant.
There are many different workshops held at Quest Art School + Gallery, and off-site, to a wide variety of students. We offer classes to children, youth and adults of all skill levels. If you are curious, patient and eager to lend a hand, then you might be perfect assisting one of our instructors as they lead a workshop.

Off-Site Events.
Quest Art, as a charitable organization, is often invited to a wide range of events in the Midland-Penetang’, and sometimes wider, region. These vary by season and year, so depending on where you can get to, you could assist at one of these events. Please let us know your preferences as this would be a real asset to us at Quest when seeking location specific volunteers!

Students can get involved with Quest Art and discover fun and engaging ways to explore art, get community volunteer hours, meet other creative people or even complete your co-op credit! We would love to have your insight and energy here at Quest! Please contact
