Introducing Art Slam: Wanderlust!

Quest Art School + Gallery’s Highly Anticipated Battle Royale Is Back With New Theme

Midland, Ontario (June 24th, 2024) - Quest Art School + Gallery is thrilled to announce the return of Art Slam, the electrifying art battle that champions creativity and artistic talent. This year, the event returns with a bang, featuring a new and inspiring theme: Art Slam: Wanderlust. Quest is currently seeking artists who are inspired by the spirit of adventure to compete in this unique and high-energy showdown, providing a platform for them to showcase their talent in a competitive environment.

This year, Art Slam will feature 16 artists, each taking the stage to claim an easel for an exhilarating three-round paint-off. In the first round, eight artists will have just 30 minutes to complete a wanderlust-inspired masterpiece. Audience members will vote for their favourites, and the process will repeat with a second group of eight artists. The top two artists from each round, as chosen by the audience, will advance to the grand finale. After a final vote, one artist will be crowned the Art Slam Champion!

“We are incredibly excited to bring Art Slam back for a sixth year,” says the event’s Committee Chair, Stephanie Rumball. “Art Slam not only showcases the immense talent of our local artists but is a unique opportunity for competitors to engage with the community by demonstrating their creative process in real time. It is our hope that introducing a theme to this year’s event will excite and challenge our artists to explore the depths of their creativity and take us on a journey through their unique interpretations of wanderlust, adventure and discovery. Art Slam: Wanderlust promises to be a fantastic platform for our artists to share their talents, gain exposure and connect with other creatives, and we hope it inspires both established and emerging talent to join the competition.”

Art Slam: Wanderlust is open to artists in Simcoe County, Southern Georgian Bay and Grey County. The submission window is now open and will run until Monday, July 15th, 2024. Submission criteria can be found online at https://www.questart.ca/call-for-submission. Each submission received will be adjudicated by Quest’s Exhibition Committee Chair and the Art Slam Event Committee. Those selected to participate in the event will be notified in early August.  Art Slam: Wanderlust will take place on Friday, September 20th, 2024, at the Midland Cultural Centre.
