Aliyah Beckles-Gaines is the editor and one of the authors of We Are Here: Stories of Southern Georgian Bay BIPOC Women. A book in which three BIPOC women have chosen to share their experiences from within the Midland/Penetanguishene community that were racist, micro aggressive, or demeaning and ultimately how their lives changed for the better in the end. The writers are: Cassidy Press Tatyana Drover and Aliyah Beckles-Gaines We all greatly believe that education is a tool to change how we are treated as BIPOC peoples. This book will hopefully be a tool for those who are not BIPOC to see how even small actions greatly affect someone’s well-being, and for BIPOC to see their experiences reflected.
